Tech Logic Inc. announces with great sadness that co-founder Mark Frich, has died. He was 66 years old. The thoughts of Tech Logic's board, management and employees are with Mark's family.

Mark Frich and Bob Rohlf, former CEO of Hennepin County (MN) Library, founded Tech Logic in 1997, by combining Mark's extraordinary engineering skills and Bob's legendary library leadership to resolve the laborious challenges associated with manually checking in and sorting library materials. Together, these two men dramatically changed workflow in libraries for the better.

Mark designed and constructed the world's first Automated Material Handling (AMH) system for libraries. His designs always focused on minimizing physical labor and streamlining return and logistics processes for libraries. Mark also created the groundbreaking "Combo" self-checkout station designed to simplify and improve the checkout experience for patrons. He held a dozen patents for AMH designs that Tech Logic continues to utilize to this day.

Tech Logic was acquired in 2005 by The Library Corporation. "The library world owes Mark a huge debt of gratitude for his commitment to the improvement of workflow in libraries," noted Gary Kirk, President of Tech Logic. "The first time I met him 15 years ago, I knew he and Tech Logic were something special. I am glad that we have been able to keep his dream alive and well through the growth of Tech Logic."
