5 Things You Should Know About Tech Logic
#1) We’ve got a great origin story
Bob Rolfe (former director of the Hennepin County Library in Minnesota) co-founded Tech Logic out of a health necessity. Bob noticed that many librarians suffered repetitive motion injuries from sorting millions of library items by hand. That’s when he thought about automation that’s designed specifically for library items. Under Bob’s leadership, Tech Logic produced North America’s first library-specific automated material handling (AMH) system!
#2) We’re US-based
If you research companies in the library automation industry, you will notice that many are foreign-owned conglomerates that have very little relationship (relatively speaking) with libraries here in the United States. In contrast, Tech Logic is US-based. We conduct operations, facilitate customer support, design our software, and manufacture our AMH systems from our headquarters in Oakdale, Minnesota.
#3) We’re family owned
In 2005, The Library Corporation (TLC) became our parent company. TLC has been a US-based, family-owned company (certified Women’s Business Enterprise) since its founding in 1974.
#4) We have tons of happy customers
Customer care is foundational to our work at Tech Logic. “It’s so engrained for everyone who works at Tech Logic, and The Library Corporation, that ‘this is who we are. This is why we do what we do,’” said Tech Logic President Gary Kirk. Throughout our website, you’ll see quotes from library staff who love working with Tech Logic. In our Success Stories section, you’ll see specific examples showing how our solutions help library staff and patrons every day. Check back in on our website’s Success Stories section (or join our newsletter) to see new posted stories. If you’re a current customer, please let us know if you’d like to add your own story to this section! We’d love to talk with you.
#5) We’re People First
Tech Logic’s People First mindset is a central pillar of our work. "We build technology that adapts to people,” said Gary Kirk, Tech Logic’s President, “rather than asking people to adapt to technology." In everything we do, we want to help libraries prioritize people. Also, through our People First Award, Tech Logic celebrates libraries that are particularly outstanding reflections of this vision.
Tech Logic connects libraries with their communities through dynamic, innovative, and efficient workflow technologies—delivering unparalleled service and outstanding patron experience. Since 1997, we have worked exclusively with libraries to develop solutions that empower library patrons and staff.
