Team Member Spotlight: Tim Lawson

Tim has been working directly with libraries since 2012. He is known for his entrepreneurial spirit, passion for people, and excellent listening skills. As a Tech Logic Senior Solution Specialist, his goal is to improve the daily lives of library staff and patrons. Caring for each library's unique needs brings Tim great joy. 

To help us get to know Tim, we asked him a few questions:

‍How has your previous work experience equipped you to partner with libraries more effectively?

I’ve always been entrepreneurial-minded. In college, I started my own exterior painting company. I enjoyed the challenge, and it was a great beginning for my career in sales. 

Before joining Tech Logic in 2012, I worked in the construction industry as a representative for Pella Windows. This experience helped me to work with libraries doing renovations and building new buildings. I’m comfortable talking to contractors and working with architects. 

Over time, I’ve built up my skill set working with libraries. I understand the importance of listening to our customers. I want to learn about each library's goals and challenges. Instead of just selling products they don’t need, we can find the right solution together. 

‍What’s the best thing about collaborating with librarians? 

Librarians are selflessly dedicated. They commit their lives to the communities they live in. They are passionate about equal-opportunity knowledge. They are deeply compassionate and are so easy to talk with. They are always looking for solutions to make their communities better. 

‍Could you tell us a bit about the ways in which you want to empower libraries through Tech Logic’s solutions?

Tech Logic’s products allow libraries to focus on their patrons and not the repetitive tasks of checking in and checking out items. Our solutions are built with staff and patrons in mind. 

‍How would you summarize your view on the unique ways in which libraries empower their communities? How do you expect this to expand and/or adjust in the coming years?

Libraries are constantly changing and adapting to their communities and patrons' requests.  Tech Logic’s technology frees library staff and allows them to engage in more community involvement activities, helping them keep the library current and useful to the community. 

‍Would you care to share any fun facts about yourself, inside or outside of work?

I enjoy traveling and nature. I currently serve on the board of directors at Wildlife Forever, a non-profit dedicated to preserving wildlife and nature. My brother lives in Alaska, so my wife (Kelsey) and I like visiting him there. We also enjoy time at the family cabin in northern Minnesota and walking our dog, Brooks.
